Castle from Island Clay Workshop

As part of Re*Mind Art Research, we conducted a castle sculpture workshop with 2nd and 3rd-grade students from İstiklal Primary School, using Bozcaada’s natural clay.

Held at Itırlı Bahçe and led by Saye Özçelik, the workshop began with an introduction to the structure and uses of clay, followed by a short hands-on practice session. The children then used their imagination to shape castles from clay, drawing inspiration from Bozcaada’s history and cultural landscape.

This experience allowed the students to express their creativity and enhance their craftsmanship, while also strengthening their connection to the island and its historical structures.
