Plastic Bag Cleanup Event

As part of Zero Gathering, a plastic bag cleanup event was organized under Zero Lab, one of the research branches of Zero Movement. The event aimed to collect plastic bags and other discarded objects scattered around Bozcaada’s landfill site, which is used for wild waste disposal.

The cleanup effort attracted great interest from participants. With the support of local residents, Bozcaada Municipality, and the Bozcaada District Governor’s Office, the event raised awareness while contributing to both environmental and community well-being.

This initiative sought to reduce the impact of plastic pollution on the island’s ecosystem and promote recycling efforts. After the collection process, the plastic bags and other waste materials were either properly disposed of or separated for recycling.

Held under the title “Welcome to the World of Discarded Objects,” this event contributed to Zero Movement’s vision of continuous transformation and innovation, while supporting efforts to preserve Bozcaada’s natural and cultural fabric.

In 2025, we initiated scientific studies to reduce plastic bag usage. We are conducting research on alternative materials and developing new solutions. Our goal is to create a positive environmental impact not only for Bozcaada but also for a broader region.
