ROBOTIC CODING WORKSHOPS

As part of the Zero 1.0 Smart Island research project, which aims to integrate Bozcaada with digitalization and smart city technologies, we organized Coding with Lego and Robotic Coding workshops. These workshops attracted great interest from children. Through specially designed activities for different age groups, we combined creativity with technology.

Coding with Lego Workshop (2nd and 5th Grade)

October 15, 2024

With 2nd-grade students, we built models of windmills, one of the island’s symbols, using Lego Wedo 2.0 sets and tablets, and then programmed them with a robotic coding interface. Additionally, we aimed to enhance ecological awareness through frog robots that model the metamorphosis of frogs and the design of electric vehicles.

5th-grade students used Makerzoid Robomaster sets and the Scratch programming language to design crab robots and autonomous electric tractors. These projects incorporated both technology and creative solutions that emphasized the island’s natural ecosystem.

Robotic Coding Workshop (High School)

October 16, 2024

With high school students, we used ThinkerCAD and MIT App Inventor to create 3D designs of their dream ecological island. Additionally, they developed applications for Android and iOS that could be used to promote Bozcaada. These projects allowed students to explore their skills in both design and software development.

Our workshops provided children and young people with the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience with technology. Coding with Lego and Robotic Coding became an unforgettable experience that combined creativity and fun while taking promising steps toward the future of the island.
